Does anyone out there know of any problems being reported for fuel pump electronics on '07 1200 GS ADV? Mine completely died while riding down the highway. It acted like it was not getting fuel. Tried to start it, it would run rough and sputter, then die. Then, after sitting a while, it started right up and I rode it home. Local dealer said there has been problems with fuel pump electronics. I have an appointment to take it in next week. Anyone heard of this problem?

My '07 GSA has been fairly fine, with 20000 now. Problems? My battery started going bad, slowly turning the starter, so a new BMW battery was warrantied. This was a week ago, at 7 months old. My mpg's are all over the place on my GSA bike! Mid 40's sometimes and a trip last week in bad winds, the mpg's dropped to 30 mpg:(. I was running pretty fast at 75 avg..This is poor in my opinion! Don't think this is fuel pump oriented, but. Good luck with yours. Happy Trail's, Randy

Yes, there are still issues with the fuel pump controller causing problems even though it was redesigned a year or two ago. Part number 7 here.........

It is possible to bypass it in an emergency......

Yes I have had what I think is a similar problem with my 07 GSadv.

My bike died shortly after filling up with fuel last Saturday. The bike coughed and then died but restarted (I discovered at that point the battery is fairly weak and won't crank for too long). It died again and then restarted. It then died twice on the freeway almost killing me as you can't bump it. I then spent the best part of 4 miles pushing it home. I drained the fuel charged the battery and topped up with fresh. Still no go. I got the bike recovered to the dealer and they diagnosed a fuel controller that was replaced under warranty.

I discovered several things. Firstly my wife doesn't answer her cell phone! Secondly the bike is heavy with a full tank and thirdly I will have to worry about taking the bike on an "adventure".

Nice!

Actually, the worrying is optional. :wow

If I were planning a long trip away from civilization on my /2 I'd be sure to pack a condensor. If on an airhead, I'd bring a diode board and maybe a rotor, too. On my hexhead I think I'd make a fuel pump controller work-around cable to bring along with a spare EWS antenna.

In any case, I'd not do much worrying.

I appreciate the info on an emergency solution and I will make up a by pass lead.

The bike is running well again and I am burning 100 octane fuel as a treat!

Cheers guys!

Mine is at the shop now waiting for a new fuel pump. Let me down the other day, fired up, ran for a few seconds then died.
