View Full Version : Help With Oil Leak Needed!

I stopped by my dads yesterday & he showed me this leak on his 1200GS. At first glance I thought it might be the sight glass but it's dry. Looks to be coming from behind the black plastic belt cover. Could it be the front crankshaft seal? If so, how big a job to replace the seal? Anyone had a similar problem? When I have time i'll pull the plastic cover & look at it closer. The crankshaft seal is pretty deep. The shaft seal for the timing trigger would be my first suspect.

I'm sure that there's a bunch of knowledgable people here, however you might find a wider audience for the 1200GS in the "hexheads" fourm.

Oops! you're right. i'm not used to discussing things hexhead since I don't own one. Yet anyway.
