I am wanting to use the 5 amp wire or outlet to trip a relay to power a fuse block for several accessories. Looking thru owner's manual - doesn't mention it, that I can find. I do see a round cap under driver's seat, about 6-7 inches rearward of battery, next to brake reservoir. I unscrewed and looked in it to see a bunch of pins, like it would take a complicated plug to connect to it. Is that it and what do I need to properly connect up to it for my fuse block ? Thanks for future replies.

Allright, now , under the passenger seat, way back on the left side is a wire & connector going to an outlet to the outside. Is that the 5 amp source I'm needing ?

That's the rear accessory outlet, and yes, you can tap it for a relay. It's been a long time since I did it; I [I]think[I] the brown wire is the hot wire...but check with someone who knows for certain. I tapped my relay, no problems for more than 20,000 miles.

Brown wire is GROUND.

Green with white stripe is +12 volts (switched) This wire will remain on about 1 minute after the ignition is switched off.

Another alternative way is the way I did it. I took the wire that powers the front accessory outlet back to a relay and fuze block that I put under the seat and took a separately fuzed wire and ground from the battery to the front factory plug. That way I can use the front plug for a standard Battery Tender and it will work since that outlet is no longer disabled by CANBUS and then use the fuze block and a grounding block to power other accessories that I want to be w/o power when the switch is off. Works great for me but then different strokes for different folks.

I like Dan's option. I used the GPS power lead under the handlebars to power a Garmin styled plug for the GPS and a power relay for my heated vest. The GPS pulls <3ams and the relay <.5 amps. Well with in the canbus limit.

But with Dan's way, I wouldn't have to have added a socket for my heated gear.
