Jeff,
Being the icon for BMW M/C history I have a question for you. When the BMW dist was "Butler & Smith", why was it called that? I have a friend who knew a guy who went to service school there and was disappointed he didn't meet Butler or Smith!
Any info you might have????

Thanks 20774!
The Butler & Smith Trading company got their name from their address, Butler Street and Smith Street in Brooklyn, in the grimy industrial section along the Gowanus Canal." Butler & Smith, Inc. ceased U.S. BMW motorcycle importation on Sept. 31, 1980.

Richard Backus and his crew puts out a nice magazine. Only 6 issues per year but it's fun reading about older bikes, even bikes what weren't old when I was looking at some of them.
