Can't speek for the RT, but had the Remus system on my ST. Sound is throaty and it was a lot lighter. Improved acceleration and looked cool. I've since traded the bike in and put the OEM exhaust back on. Could tell the difference right away. Not sure but the ST and the RT may be interchangeable. If so check the flea market, the system is for sale.

Forget performance. You'll hear plenty of claims but always consider the source; the claims come from the vendors themselves and they tend to play upon age-old "conventional wisdom" regarding highly restrictive stock exhaust systems. BMW engineered your stock exhaust for the optimum power characteristics and it is anything but highly restrictive. Most of the performance is defined by the header pipes and crossover, which you aren't changing with a slip-on. A slip-on might boost HP a couple of percentage points right around redline as measured on a dyno, but, most people aren't riding an RT like that to begin with and it won't be noticable in the real world above and beyond what the Placebo Effect will tell your brain.
Some throatiness to the sound seems to be appreciated by many people. I probably wouldn't mind too much if my GS sounded "more like a motorcycle" but on the flip-side I detest Harleyesque loud pipes and I am surprised and gratified by the number of non-motorcyclists who comment on how quiet my bike is.

thanks for the info. I had looked at the remus, but, wasn't quite sure. I like the look. steve, You are correct that performance without the whole system changed would probably not be of any help at the speeds that we ride. I see that Ztechnik has a complete system that looks good and is stainless for under $1000.

Have you considered a 9mm or similar sized projectile shot through the stock muffler? Cheaper, but with the desired outcome.

Don't forget to take the muffler off first....better results in the long run!:whistle

I was able to use a small caliber revolver instead fo a 9mm and the results were profound.
