View Full Version : Fuel Overflow

When filling my gas tank on my '07 RT, gas surged over the filler neck and into the "mote" around it. I then had gas dripping onto the pavement. I looked under the bike and the fuel seemed to be dripping off the inside of the left fairing. Is this what it's supposed to do? Should there be some kind of drain hose? I had the bike on the center stand while fueling.

Nobody knows where the mote drain goes? I noticed water in there after getting caught in the rain.

James - I can't speak to your bike, but I know where it goes on my '07 R1200R.. it heads down to a hose on the left side of the bike around where the footpeg is.
The drain there is primarily to drain off rain-water. I suppose if you get some gas in it - it will also drain that off.

Same as the RT. My '99 R is on the right.
If it's filling up with water it's probably blocked by some debris. Try applying some compressed air to it. My R has clogged before. Bad news when opening the filler and get a shot of rain water pour into the tank.
