I have a 2000 R1100RT, I recently swapped out my brake line for steel braided. Had to take it to my local dealership in Bakersfield CA. (they have been a dealership less than a year), to get the system bled as I have ABS. My ABS was working prior to my changing the brake lines, and now they are telling me the pump is not working, and they don't have the necessary cable to plug it into the G1 unit to diagnose the problem. These guys do not instill a whole lot of confidence in their capabilities. What could make the modulator just stop working? The cost of a new or even used modulator is astronomical. Can the system be bled with a bad modulator if in fact it is bad in the first place? They have tried to gouge me on the labor charges telling me it takes 3.2 hrs to bleed the brakes and wanted to charge me $250, and this with my taking off the fairing, and gas tank, basically doing 75% of the job myself, so you can see why I am having to resort to all you awesome people here on the forums. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The ABS modulator in the 2000 RT is the exact same part number as the one in my 94 R1100RS, I checked the part numbers on the dealer parts system. I replaced the ABS modulator in my RS myself. I found a salvaged modulator on ebay for $250. I installed it myself. I was careful to not let the hard tubing drain much brake fluid when I took the old modulator out. Before attaching the tubing on the replacement modulator, I filled the ports with fresh DOT4. Then attached the tubing and ble dhte modulator. From there I worked my way to the front and rear brake system. I had installed Speedbleeders at the calipers which made bleeding the system much easier. I can now bleed the flush the system and bleed the brakes on my RS in less than an hour.

Once I had the brakes bled, I took my bike to my dealer and had the ABS modulator initialized to my bike. Everything works great now for the past three years.

I have no idea why you would take it to the dealer. You just need to bleed both the front and rear circuits like regular brakes.
You can diagnose any fault by following one of these procedures:

or
http://k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2110

You need a 12V LED, attach the + side to battery + and the - side to pin #2 of the diagnostic connector under the seat.

I would get the bike OUT of that shop before they break something. :banghead

bmwmick is right. If all you did was replace the front system brake hoses, and did not disturb the hard lines running to the ABS modulator, all you should have to do is bleed the front brake system.

I replaced the entire ABS modulator myself, at home, and I had no trouble bleedng the air out of the system, including the modulator. My brakes work fine and the ABS responds and cycles just like it did before.
