I am considering going from a 1986 K75C to a 1994 K1100RS. I will test ride thee 1100. Is there a big difference between the two bikes? I am concerned about the engine heat, the K75 is bearable in traffic in Arizona in the summer, will the k1100RS be much worse? Were there any major changes in K bikes between 1986 and 1994. Thanks in advance

Rob,
There have been lots of improvements, more power, better suspension, better brakes(ABS-II), more power. You can learn about the K1100 here: http://k11og.org/
It WILL put out more heat. I usually park my K1100 in the summer and ride my R1100RT. Sitting at a stoplight, Grant/Campbell will still be hot, no matter which bike you are on. :)

Hi. I had a 94 K11RS and it was unbearably hot. It ran super smooth. It was super comfortable. It was just too hot. It was nice in the winter, though. :thumb

In chrono order, i had a 87 K75S, an '86K75C, then a '94K11RS.
K75s were a bit smoother. K11 was definitely faster, and much stronger as speeds increased, hills got bigger, or carry load got heavier. and yes, the K11 was noticeably hotter than the K75 (actually, it was less hot than my C, but i ran that bike with a Pichler, which was like a RS fairing, without the good venting!). K11 was heavier, but only really in a bad way on a tighter backroad. on a good sweeper road (approaches to/from Salt River Canyon?) it was really fine (especially with upgraded front springs and an Ohlins in back). K11 brakes were superior, as were lights. K75 is easier for maintenace (primarily valve adjustments).
i upgraded to the K11 when my son got too big/heavy as a passenger for the K75. K11Rs is a great 2-up machine, that is quite enjoyable as a 1-up tourer/commuter.

i ride a R1100S now. for me, total perfection!! :dance
