Tonight is Tuesday night.
How's that for the ridiculously obvious?
Had a real nice supper at Cab's, my regular haunt.
Chef and friend Luis came up with what he calls "Venison Sliders", a small piece of hammered venison loin on grilled bread with shaved endive and arugula with a cranberry/jalapeno mayo.
Had that and some nibbles before and split a nice bottle of Paulliac with my good friend and BMW mentor Lee.
Now it's on to coffee (wings of the morning, 100% Kona) with Grandma (Grand Marnier).
Screw the market. Life is good!

I went with the Coors N/A and some hot wings with blue cheese from Dining Facility #2. The Ugandan guards almost did not let me in. I have not picked up my M-4 yet from our supply SGT. You must be armed when you go into the DFAC. Iraq is a very odd place. I would kill for a nice glass of wine, no I am not kidding! haha

Went out with the wife (kids had sports activities) to a local hole in the wall, the "Tilted Kilt". I had the Chesapeake burger, 1/2 lb. of fresh ground angus, topped with baby portobella, lump crab meat and cheddar. Washed it down with a local microbrew, Stoudt's Octoberfest. Her burger looked equally as good, and she enjoyed a German wheat beer, can't spell or pronounce the name..........

It seems OcenSpray has avoided the corn lobby and uses grape juice as the sweetener. No added sugar or HFCS. Until my stent is removed, alcohol is not suggested. :doh

By where some bugs had made it red
She ruled the Toads

And every newt in Idaho
And every cricket who had chorused
By the bush in Buffalo
She said she was
A Magic Mama
And she could throw a mean Tarot
And carried on without a comma
That she was someone I should know
She had a snake for a pet
And an amulet
And she was breeding a dwarf
But she wasn't done yet
She had gray-green skin
A doll with a pin
I told her she was awright
But I couldn't come in
(I couldn't come in right then...)
And so she wandered
Trough the door-way
Just like a shadow from the tomb
She said her stereo was four-way
An' I'd just love it in her room
Well, I was born
To have adventure
So I just followed up the steps
Right past her fuming incense stencher
To where she hung her castanets
She stripped away
Her ranchid poncho
An' laid out naked by the door
We did it till we were un-concho
An' it was useless any more
She had a snake for a pet
And an amulet
And she was breeding a dwarf
But she wasn't done yet
She had gray-green skin

Lowell George - Little Feat
I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty don't ya know, and I'm still, willin'
Out on the road late at night, Seen my pretty Alice in every head light
Alice, Dallas Alice
I've been from Tuscon to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me: weed, whites, and wine
and you show me a sign
I'll be willin', to be movin'
I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet
Had my head stoved in, but I'm still on my feet and I'm still... willin'
Now I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico
baked by the sun, every time I go to Mexico, and I'm still
And I been from Tuscon to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me: weed, whites, and wine

Went to the bar around noon to watch one of the only sporting events I watch straight through, regularly. I had some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and then switched to Sam Adams. It's more of a neighborhood bar so I'm mostly stuck with the more "normal" beers.

Back to the Sprecher Mai Bock after running around with OU812 up near where were we?
Yeah, Lake Zurich, Barrington. Nice little roads up over by 'dere. We had 2 and a half hours so just a quick hop but I have to tell you I cannot remember a more pleasant biking experience.
Ran the slab up to Steve's around 10:30ish, not that I like the slab but it's good to get slab exposure so God forbid you have to ride it you're not all freaked out. Really is no problem for me, sometimes it's about saving time.
So I get up there and we mosey over to Cyclewerks, I want to set up some new tires and now I am learning . . . . and this might interest you if you are considering tires, that Metz 880's are not produced for my year RT ('07). I was trying to make up my mind, this will be my first new set of tires after the OEM's (Bridgestone Battleax 020). So cool, now it's down to Z6's (original, not Interacts) or Pilot Road 2's. The only bark I've heard is watch the Z6's for tread wear or be sure you can replace them at X interval. I'be also heard they are wicked good in the twisties.
Anyway, Guy's off Saturday but Steve gets a tank vent hose reconnected that they missed last time. Right now, took a half hour. OK so they missed it first time but made it right and right now. I like Cyclewerks.
OK, run some two laners through the aforementioned area. Stopped twice, once for a Fat Tire, then down the road a while for a Guinness. Little roadhouses. Nize.
Weather was about as nice as you could request; 75, no wind, partly cloudy to overcast. After a while I was in the zone, ya know? Just the road and the wind and I. Doesn't get any better for me.
So yeah uh . . . . Don Julio.

I like the Z6's and plan on a set of the Interacts on the K12RS before the haul to Tennessee. How come you're not looking at them? If you watch the center wear bars on the rear Z6 and change it by the time the tire is close to it, you'll be fine. But, don't try to wear past it!!

Tonight was quite pleasant.
I went down to my local haunt Cab's (http://cabsbistro.com/index.html) in Glen Ellyn. Had the bouillabaisse which is just freakin' ridiculous. A few Grand Marniers before and then a good Pinot Noir with the bouillabaisse and then upstairs to listen briefly to an Austrian girl who strangely enough played some really good blues, just her accompanying herself with a semi-hollow electric, really really good.
Now back home after stopping to get a bottle of DUH Grand Marnier and home again to brew some coffee to enjoy alongside.
I don't know how life has been for you, lately I've had to make a few changes, realign my finances and yes, took a payroll nick as I'm sure many of you may have as well. I'm far from retirement yet.

Spaten Optimator. Why? Because it is good for you! See all of the scientific proof below. (got this from the Spaten site)
Rich in Vitamins and Good for the Nerves
Beer is rich in important vitamins - most are delivered to you by the beer's yeast. Vitamins B1, B2, and B6 and H contained in beer are food for the nerves: They improve your ability to concentrate, support the production of red blood cells, have a positive effect on your blood circulation and stimulate your metabolism.
Minerals for the Metabolism
A scientific study undertaken at the Technical University of Munich concluded that the collection of minerals and trace elements in beer have a favorable effect on nerves and muscle strength, electrolyte usage, enzyme activation and hormone levels. In addition, iron and copper help blood production, phosphorus supports metabolism and magnesium strengthens the heart muscle. Zinc is necessary for your pancreas' production of insulin and fluoride protects your teeth from cavities. Finally, Maganese also helps in the production of beer's Vitamin B, which is very valuable to the human body.
Beer helps you relax
A hectic lifestyle, stress or problems with your job or family often lead to nervousness and sleeping problems-your blood pressure rises. A glass of beer before going to bed is the "best medicine" against all of that: The hops in beer (with all four important B vitamins) have a calming effect on exhausted nerves and relax your muscles. The small amount of alcohol (4.5 to 5.5%) and the carbonation relax your body. The commentary of the Munich study concludes: "The life expectancy of people who drink beer in moderation is longer than of people who abstain." Uhhh.. Optimator is almost 8% so I get extra credit.
The calorie count rises...
Beer is comparably a low-calorie drink. A twelve ounce glass of beer has about 160 calories; only mineral water, coffee and tea (without milk or sugar), skim and butter milk have fewer calories than beer. "Hard drinks", wine, champagne and liqueurs as well as fruit, lemonade and whole milk do not. Additionally, beer, because it has practically no sodium, promotes tissue drainage and sodium expulsion.
Beer gives you momentum
Beer is healthy-sport medicine specialists have also recognized that fact and have drawn uses from it. One example is the two Italian sport doctors Antonelli and Romano who came to the conclusion that a liter of beer a day increases performance, concentration and reaction and strengthens muscles. The American cardiologist Sheehan maintains that after long distance running, jogging, cross country skiing or marathons, beer ideally replaces bodily fluids and energy. The French doctor Gulpin discovered decades ago that beer increases lung capacity and speeds the lung's ability to process oxygen.
Beer in old Age
Doctors and geriatricians have recognized that beer - in addition to all of the previously mentioned health effects - works against the possible breakdown of the aging human body. Also noteworthy is beer's sociological aspects: Beer is cheerful, makes one sociable and makes it easier to make contact and win new friends. In an opinion poll of German general practitioners, 81% were convinced that one or two beers a day could "beautify" retirement.

Took the baby GS's on a short, but fun, ride from Cashmere up to the Cottonwood campground at the end of the Entiat River Road.
Dinner beers are a Wild Blue blueberry lager from Blue Dawg Brewing in Baldwinsville, NY and a Jubelale winter ale from Deschutes Brewery, in my favorite Oregon town of Bend, OR.
The ale is a bit bitter but not too bad, and the blueberry.....well.....its quite interesting. I'm thinking it would be a nice addition to a batch of blueberry pancakes. Its a bit sweet and the blueberry smell is way overpowering when you take a drink from the bottle.

Drink from a bottle??? All good beers need to be poured properly to release the true taste of the brew. A paper cup is better than a bottle, IMHO.

Well, the first taste was from the bottle. After dinner, I poured one into a 'jacuzzi approved' (plastic) cup and headed for the spa, but still, it was just too overpowering.
Beer in a glass depends on how lazy I'm feeling, and how much I've already had to drink.

Heard about this Guinness 250. A celebratory beer commemorating the brewery's 250th anniversary. I have not formulated an opinion yet. Whaty'all thank?
OK!
I have sampled the product. Repeatedly.
Here's the skinny:
More malt. More alcohol. Less bubbles (no floor show, pour it down side of your glass).
Easier to drink than standard Guinness Stout.
Did I mention more alcohol? :bottle

But, I do love the occasional Dos Equis with a twist of lime(when my gal friend's around she insists upon it)! Is it howling at your door tonight?
OK, Navan liquer.
Very alcohol forward nose. Very.
Less vanilla than I was expecting but quite palatable once you acclimate.
Still brings the load I expect from a good cognac and a nice change from original Grand Marnier.
Oooh . . . . the vanilla is very much on the backside.
So, pour in a snifter, walk away for 15 - 20 minutes and let it settle down.
