View Full Version : How much time do we have;

On our hands to sit in front of our computers and do this? I wonder sometimes. I am injured, so I happen to have some spare time for a while, BUT otherwise wonder what folks do to have time to be here so frequently! I know this can get habit forming, as I have found myself sitting way too long here, when I could be anywhere else riding or whatever. Some are complaining recently about ADV rider site and this means there are even more places to be doing this. I have the KLR650 site on my list and go there. Maybe one day we won't ride at all and just tell tales of when we did:). Seems a ton of time is spent on websites. I enjoy reading a lot of it too, but get the guilty creepies, when I look at the clock and realize I've been here at the keyboard way too long...Anybody else? Very valuable resource, in this medium, but just how much time do we have and live the rest of our lives riding the bikes, I hope:). I see more folks with laptops popping from the saddlebags and this seems a cool way to ride and include the computer age. Ride and type. Are we becoming more keyboard artists and less handlebar friendly? Makes one think, at least me. Randy:thumb :usa

my bike has been damaged/in the shop for weeks and frankly, after 6 months of teaching lessons full time i was a little "burnt" on riding and motorcycles in general, so it's an ok break for me. lately i've been getting the itch to ride and get the hell out of this city and into a tent for a night.

but some of our jobs allow us desk time where we're either doing online research, doing equipment specs or waiting on the phone. that's how we build our post count.

oh, and i don't really watch tv, so when i'm home if i'm not reading or doing something, i'm usually reading or posting online.

I was getting paid to do this, well not exactly for this, however, there was lots of down time, while other folks fixed things.
Now I'm sitting watching video rendering for 5 hrs, so I get to prat about. I'm not doing too much riding, because I've got a whopping six month ride coming up, so apart from a few quick rides to make sure nothing falls off, it's screen time.

I don't have a lot of work to do at work...I can surf but I can't go out for a ride.

During the baseball season, I have the ball game on every night and am sitting at the computer, fixing and posting my pics from the weekend or from a previous trip.

When I was a kid I used to sit and listen to the game on the radio every night, back then I used to play solitaire, this isn't much different.

None of my surfing time could be spent riding - so no conflict there.

I'm retired.

Except for maintaining Voni's bikes - and a little work on mine - and lots of other good stuff.

I could go for a ride - I often do - but .....

We gave up the "toob" - more precisely decided we never saw much worthwhile anyway - so all those hours most folks sit in front of a TV, I have time to play with my computer.

I'm pretty busy at work right now, but regardless I'm sitting in front of a computer all day. As I switch between projects or sit on conference calls that have little to do with me, I visit the forum. Like Gail, I have time to visit the forum but I couldn't be out riding or anything.

Right now I am sitting on the couch watching TV and having a beer. I had to connect in to work quick to take care of something so now I'm checking the forum.

I am a bit the same. When home, I dont watch TV, just spend way too much time on the poota. Unless I have work to do on the bike.

My job gives me time to surf the net( shift work), so on night shift I have my laptop in the lunch room, and watch TV, and play on the computor.

A bit hard to leave the heater to actually do some work though.:cry

I know I will get razzed over this. I am a firefighter sitting here at the fire station waiting for the bells to ring and rescue a cat from a tree.
There I said it.

I've retired from the military and am now a full time student. The forum is a convenient distraction, a few minutes here and there to keep the mind from tiring.
I'm still riding plenty, and when it gets too cold for that I'll be hunting.

Not recommended to ride and post at the same time, however.

IT geek, sit in front a screen all day waiting for something to break, rarely does, UNIX rocks, stability wise, mostly monitoring the system activity and patching as required by the developers, can't ride while doing this (obviously :doh) so....

In the evenings the SO watches her dance comps and such, not much interest for me so the laptop is my view, between working on writing and photos and my web site I keep on eye on the forum. Afternoons and weekends don't see much of me on here if the weather is good for riding or other things need attending to.....

too much time here, yeah probably, its an adiction, shoot me up Doctor Flox!

I used to read financial newsletters while drinking my morning coffee. This site is more interesting, less depressing, and has less BS. :D

I don't have a tv, computer, etc/etc at home.. just a big desk with a lamp and a bunch of books. I get on the computer between classes at school.

I ride way more than I type.

I wonder how, or why, people spend time arguing online. Talk about an absolute waste of.. time.

I've got WAY too much time on my hands. I'm sort-of between jobs, so Iv'e got lots of time but can't scrape up enough gas-money to spend the time in the saddle.

Funny you shouldn't mention it.

I actually cut my cell phone bill in half by giving my other phone to my brother and making him pay.

You should see my refrigerator, just ketchup and mustard.

Oddly enough, I haven't even drank in a month.... and this (http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v71/47/3/576805190/n576805190_401440_3806.jpg) was my recycling bin not long ago.
