I ride to work at 6am, it of course is dark. I added a set of 55 Watt driving lights. I figure that with the headlights and the added lights I draw 200 watts. This of course puts me at the edge of not enough power. Anyone have a easy way upgrade the charging system? I know for about $500 I can get a kit to upgrade to 480.
I am looking for LED bulbs.

Here is a link to a thread on ADV Rider discussing the (2) most common upgrades - Enduralast or Omega. If it were me, I'd probably go with the Omega route. Though I haven't upgraded the charging system on any of my airheads yet, I've had had good service&support from Rick at Motorrad Elektrik.

I upgraded my 1981 R100RT with the Enduralast system. Very easy install and works fantastic. I now have plenty of power for my 2 100 watt driving lights or fog lights. I wired them so that the twin fogs are on with low beam and the driving lights are on with High Beam. I like lots of light out front as I live in a rural area and those dear just love to jump out in front. :thumb

It seems they make a lot of LED light today. Many different mounts, and has anyone run them. I saw a H4, mount, but I run a modulator during the day, so I not sure if a LED would work with that. I am going to take about the driving lights and see what the fixture looks like and see if I can find LED for that.

At 6 am in Michigan, and deer season soon, I want lots of light.

I did the Omega upgrade two years ago on my R100/7. Good stuff. I run a 80/80w bulb and find NO driving lights required for me on this old bike. The Omega system is very well made. Randy:thumb :usa
