I have bar backs, probably 50mm, but saw the Replacement Bar Kit at Speigler and wondered if anyone has put on one???

Love some feedback from anyone who has put traditional bars on a K12RS, especially the Speigler/ lsl.eu kit.

TIA,
Charles

I converted a R11R to tubular bars. I wound up buying R1150R bars that were drilled for heated grips. It was worth the trial and error. I gained a fair amount of leverage and improved the feel of the bike.

I'm not as sure about the conversion on a K12RS. The folks at Spiegler have obviously done their research. Things to consider are how high and what reach to the bars you want. Also, are the bars drilled for heated grips? Will they work with a Throttlemeister or the stock cruise control if your bike is newer (2002+)? Does BMW make a bar with the bend you like that works with Spiegler's conversion kit? (Like something from an older K or R bike.)

If you do it, post some pix. I want to see what it looks like on a K12RS.

I have installed a Spiegler handle bar kit on a K1200RS. It's a nice kit. The one I installed (for a customer) got a K1100LT bar(!), using K1200LT throttle cables and custom hoses. The only problem besides the expense is that with a very tall handle bar, the bars rock quite a bit as the suspension works. I doubt that anyone else would want that much handlebar...

You can also buy a replacement upper triple clamp with traditional handle bar mounts from BMW; these were used on German police bikes. Apparenly the cops don't like the clip-ons either!

I cannot imagine that someone else has not put the full Speigler kit on.

I have had a steady stream of nibbles while offering my bike for sale, but cleaning it and riding it to work are making me think, keep it and make it the UST!

Anyone else, Buler?
