Hi,
I have 2006 R1200rt with 11000 miles. Recently I had my short block replaced by the dealership due to the stud stripping out. Since then I feel the effort to pull my clutch in seams higher than what it was before the repair.
My mechanic tells me that the effort could not have gone up because the clutch lever works by hydraulic and there are no cables to loosen or adjust.
Is this correct?
We took some static meassurements clutch lever pull ( bike was not turned on) of few showroom bikes. They all measured up to about the same. Does it matter if the bike neeeds to be running?
Have my hands just got weaker? Any advice?

There is a remote possibility that the clutch rod between the slave cylinder and the spring got bent in the remove and replace operation. If so - and if it is binding in the bore - you might feel the need for extra pressure.

So it is possible but a lot of work to check out just on a hunch.

I would get a package scale - pull spring type like a big fish scale - and physically measure the pounds of pull needed on your bike and similar others. If it measures enough higher to matter, then maybe it is worth going exploring.

For years the studs were fixed, via a thread kit just for this purpose. I had not heard they were replacing the entire block. A lot of work for a stud hole fix. My GSA has an adjustable clutch lever, so you may try adjusting the lever for your hand(fingers), for better feel. A quickie check see:). Anyhow, the stud holes were failing on many many R bikes since '95 and I guess the problem has not gone away. I've heard its from "multiple" torquing the heads, when its a ONE time operation at 600 miles. The holes are not meant to be torqued on more than once. Untold numbers have failed however, so be it. I just can't get over a whole block replaced for this? Happy Trails, Randy:thumb

Since '95? This is an oilhead problem? I thought airheads stripped stud threads also.
