I got a clear lens and LED cluster package to replace my existing red lens/incand bulb on my R1100S. I put in the LED cluster (which has a bayonet mount base mod just like the orig bulb) and it works fine, but it is also tripping my red hazard warning light in the dash, meaning it's getting a reading that the tail/brake light is defective. Could this be the bike having trouble "sensing" the presence of the LED module vs. a standard incand bulb? The current draw should be less with the LED vs. the bulb but I can't imagine why that might set off the circiutry and cause a defective reading!!?? This happen to anybody else?

Well, the guys at clear alternatives told me the hazard light is coming on because the current draw is alot less on the LED cluster than the bulb....they are working on incorporating a resister into the unit to solve the problem, but as of yet it's not complete.

Thanks for the post and update, I'm sure it will be of interest to all....I had tried one on my GS and it just didn't work so I sent the bulb back for credit.

My two cents' worth, I bought one for my 1996 R1100R from LEDtronics several months ago, using the stock lens, and it works great so far. No problems with the electrical system at all. At night, it seems like you can see the stop light for half a mile, very, very bright.

Incandescent (1156) types are 21-28 watts. This is 1.75-2.33 amps. LEDs are in the area of .030-.075 amps. On my K11 I added 13 ohms at 4 watts, at each "bulb", to keep the flasher ok. The R11 got custom lighting as part of the build, so I opened up the flasher unit & changed the amp threshold it sensed. The first way isn't bad to tinker out, just keep the resistors away from the plastic 'cause of the heat. I used "flameproof" types & they get pretty hot.

I had one on my 2004 R1100S and it would flicker when driving down the road. Friend's of mine were like "Why are you breaking so much, or why are you riding your brakes?" I pulled it off, and put the stock bulb back on...Anyone know why it's doing that?

Check the microswitches at front brake handle & rear lever. My K11 now has a spring pushing the front handle full out. It would "float" at times causing the brake light to flash erratically. An LED would make this worse by its instant on characteristic.
