I just bought a real nice 83 R100RT and didn't get an owners manual. I have a "Clymers" on the way, but still a few days off.
I need keys to the saddle bags....Where & how can I obtain key to fit??? I have key to my bags on the R65, but not ever close to fitting.
Head light aimed too high.... Is there a way to adjust, without removal of the glass shield??? Those things are a bitch to replace without damage to the rubber seal.
Where might I obtain a "Owners Manual"?? I'm watching eBay, but no luck yet.
Help an "Old Feller" out... Any info appreciated.

Not sure about the quickies, being an old feller myself....:whistle
Keys, best bet is probably a locksmith... or put a request on this site or IBMWR, they really are a hit or miss kinda thing....
Regarding headlight, the aiming is done with the pivot bolts. With an RT, not sure exactly how that is set up , but the regular headlight ears have a couple of bolts on the left and right side, which when loosened allow the headlight to be swivelled up and down. Should not involve the lens assembly from what I understand....there will be some sort of a swivel on either side, but you will have to be reaching into the fairing from the inside to find them, maybe....
Someone with direct RT experience will probably find this thread, eventually.....:dunno

Have you looked on Amazon for a manual?

On an RT you do NOT have to remove the rubber tunnel to adjust the headlight. It can be a bit awkward though. You can reach the pivot bolts from the backside, behind the gauges. On my 1981 RT I need 2 different size wrenches to do it as each side is different. I reach in to the big nuts down beside the guages. You can see the nuts there.
As to the rubber tunnel. You take it out with the glass in place. It really is very easy. Each corner of the glass is notched off so you can reach the 4 Phillips head screws. With your Phillips head screwdriver, gently pry the rubber back in each corner just enough so you can get to each screws. Then undo the 4 screws. You do not need to take them all the way out of the rubber, just enough to get them loose of the fairing. Then gently pull the whole unit out with glass in place. This gives you complete access to the headlight, and you can adjust it from there if you prefer..
Should shoot the guy that that invented Phillips heads. They always strip out with just the slightest pressure. Give me a robertson screw anyday.
Owners Manuals do come up on Fleabay on occasion, but I have not bothered to try and get one. You might also try Craigslist and other internet sites. Or another place that may have then would be the bike wreckers. Sometimes they get the with bikes that come in and quite often just toss them.

Thought about that, but after I had posted.... Anyway, the bags are original (OEM) for the 83 R100RT.

The light tunnel on RTs is really easy to remove (as per instructions above). I wouldn't bother with a work around to avoid it. It's a 30 second job. Worth removing to clean inside, plus headlight lens, once in a while.
I put an 80/85 H4 bulb (on a relayed direct connection to battery) in mine recently, cleaned up the glass, and whoa...let there be light!
Still, best bulbs I've run across are stock wattage Raybrigs. Pricey as all get out, but they kick butt over anything else I've tried, and I've got a pretty good collection of Hellas, Osrams, Philips, Sylvanias....I should open a store.

I had keys made at Bob's BMW in Jessup, Maryland. They can make them for the ignition (the kind that folds over and for the saddlebags (although these are generic I think).
For the saddle bags (panniers) when you get them, there is a little number stamped on the inside hinge leg. Something like 067 or the like. To find it, take the pannier off the bike, open the latch and get a flashlight/magnifying glass. With that number, they can make the keys.
