So i dont post much anymore over on ADVrider even in the ride reports from the massive influcks of mostly arm-chair riders and non-big endrou bike riders... The Ride Reports and the tech stuff is still great but JM is beyond out of control... and the mods there now are worse than a second class vegas lounge bar fly looking for a 7am hook up with least amount of crisco in their hair and under 5lbs of gold chains....
so i finally find the youtube video of what would be the JoMomma theme song by a group in Australia called Machine Gun (Purposely left out last part of group name) and their song played on Austalia music tv program Rage called something something on a Motorcycle... which is a quite quirky weird song of Australian humor... i viewed the video and thought that its lead singer had Power Pasties covering what is required by ADV and i choose the non-age restricted Youtube verson... and it i guess had nips in it and the power pasties were just above
so i get a 1 week ban from the cheese-poof mods who have nothing better to do but to beat up the one-eyed worm to the TB thread that shows so much more in so much more sexually explicit manners... for the most part not many of the oringal users are active anymore and even in the Rides Reports if you dont have something sexual in a thread report no one really cares what great ride you do...:banghead :mad
It saddens me that A great site is now fully on its way "falling" or more stubbling down the staircase to lesser places in the human mind... :(
Nonsense.
Back in the day before digital tuning, we'd fine tune the signal with the little ring around the channel changer dial. ADVRider has some excellent content you will not find anywhere else. You just have to filter out the noise.
Here is my Rx:
Pick and choose the ride reports.
Spend lots of time in the Regional Forums
Use the wrenching forums for informational purposes only
Ignore Jo Momma. It might be good for entertainment, but nothing "good" happens there.

I saw the videos this morning - good way to start out my work day. :)
It sucks that they banned you (this is the second banning I've heard of that sounds rather unwarranted), though I find it a little funny that you complained over here, when we usually see people from here complaining over there. Not that I find the banning itself funny, mind you.
I agree some of the ride reports have gone downhill. There are a few good ones, but I started to get tired of searching for those when a certain persons high profile "adventure ride" consisted of drinking a lot, being escorted place to place, attempts at debauchery, and staying with other members with the very occasional camping. I didn't see any adventure in that. I still like browsing through and finding the good ones, but there are other sites you can read stuff on - HU for example.

LOTS of good happens there. Hell, most of the GREAT happens there. If someone needs help, that's where it takes place. When folks are zipping across the country for some meat space time together, by and large, they're folks that have spent time in Jo Momma. It's where the inmates are people and don't spend their days talking incessantly about -yawn- motorcycles. You just have to deal with a lot of tedious crap to get there. Hell, our club's president is a former mod in Jo Momma.
But it has gotten a bit much since about a million n00bs have invaded and decided that the hug is the greatest human achievement.

Absolutely agreed, Gail. A friend sent me a link to that report while the ride was still going on and additions were still being posted. I got hooked FAST and could not wait for the next installment. Mind-boggling adventure ride, amazing photography, excellent writing. Easily the best damn ride report ever.

Change happens - get used to it.
So, your definition of an Adventure ride is a big enduro bike and camping out?
I spend way too much time reading trip reports on ADVRider, have for years. I like reading about riding in places I will not likely ever get to visit on a bike, some of the ones I am currently following:
- WorldRider (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88518), the cream of the trip report crop.
- Over the Great Wall, under the Iron Curtain (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371656)

- Solo TAT on F650 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=383560)
- Roamin' The Rockies: a woman's solo adventure (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354446)
There are more, but these are the ones that are regularly updated. Some that aren't really updated anymore but great reads nonetheless...
- Took a little ride... (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36783)
- 13 days of Romania (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381080)

- Two up - Going down +1: South America Bound (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259451)
There are literally tons more, and it is easy to search them.

IMO, it's not worth posting in JM. Everyone there wants to be a wise-ass or an e-thug, and frankly my time is better spent elsewhere. Sure I'll take a peek from time-to-time, but the truely good stuff happens elsewhere on the site, with an occasional link into JM for the help requests and such.

So, your definition of an Adventure ride is a big enduro bike and camping out?
Not necessarily. The bike doesn't matter. It doesn't even have to be an enduro. The location doesn't matter as there is plenty of "adventure" to be found here in the US (though I'll admit I find rides through other countries more interesting - still nothing wrong with a "local" ride). The attitude does. If all a "ride report" consists of is drinking, taking photos of women at a bar, making lecherous comments, and generally sponging off of everyone else, that's not an adventure. I've seen a number of reports that stress the middle two. It gets old.
As I said, there are good reports on there - some where people don't even go very far from home. I enjoy them, but I see too many of the "other ones".

I proof viewed the video and i thought it the nips were covered by the power pasties.. there is soo much more exposed sexualy graphically in other threads (even hot links that are to very sexually explicit content)... ie the Ukranian chick with nothing on top with only the extremely min coverage of the nip on the back of a bike was no problem since it is grouped with a crap load of images of implied nude images that realy have only a finger tip of coverage and/or see-through "clothing".....there was not even... okay there looks like coverage but there was not we (mods) edited the thread... i even put warnings in the thread and there was no auto load of the music video.
as for finding the good ride reports... i dont have the time even before the baby to find the good ride reports that are the good stuff (worth the time to see the photos and read the reports) after wading through chest deep reports dealing more to do with being overly drunk, and skirt chacing...
Threads like TB and any of the toxic threads as well as most of the deluting of JM area have drug the site down from a place where free-speech was respected and championed to the point where it is "porned" out as well as drug the rest of the site down into the gutter from the tech to ride reports.. ie S V... for all the wonderful photos and travel reports he did... he got more people i feel from the posting of who knows how young dairy-airs of girls/women around the world... i guess sex sells books not the interesting and amazing adventure he took.

One can effortlessly find countless websites choc-full of ill-informed ninnies regurgitating talking head talking points on how bad things are and what political party is to blame, sites crawling with self-anointed gatekeepers of brilliance endlessly stroking each other's rapier wit, etc. - there are however very few places with the kind of user-supplied unique content that draws people back again and again (and again!)

Although my help came from within this site, I knew I had to reach out to the Adv community because that's all I have ever seen them do was care. The real underlying group in both that site and this one are like family.
If you @#!$% around in JM, push the envelope and get banned, well, you may have just been asking for it. Just how it is. I don't think it warrants a rant here, IMO. Better things to do.

As for this insult to add to injury...
Did you even look at the thread that i am questioning?
Did you even look at what i was refering to in question?
I have see since 02 JM go through changes most for the worse and there is much more worse (more graphically pictorial)posts (images) that are tollerated by the mods of JM in the threasds like toxic britteny and other "toxic" threads. If you read my orginal post... i was not trying to push any limits... others have gone way farther then anything i have posted in multiple threads..
I have assisted on an fine arts forum before in thread monitering a number years ago so you insult is a waste of my time.. thing about dealing with what is art and what is trash/porn... i give it up to all the mods but i do think they do discriminate at times in inapporate ways be cause of the over welming amout of BS on Advrider now because of the JM area. the first coulpe years of ADV JM area was not that bad.
I have also found the lacking of professialism now by admin (though i feel they might just be extremely busy) in replying to my email (complaint/ contesting) to them atthe Admin email off the main page to lacking in how the site use to be run.
It might be time that ADV rider require membership which could pay the voluteer staff of mods for there time and putting up with the BS or cleaning the JM area up.. or have some more of a due process to if it is to be a free site with minimal rules to certain sections.
ADVrider i though was about motorcycling (adventures and info) not soft-core porn that is why the thread with the most posts and hits is.
I guess Doc Frazer was right about ADVrider... he is not an adventure rider... i guess neither am I.

BMWMOA: Currently Active Users: 402 (148 members and 254 guests)
ADVrider: Online: 1297 (563 adventurers and 734 lurkers)
I visit both sites. I am more active at ADVrider. Is ADVrider for everyone? No. On the other hand, if you can manage to stay out of Jo momma the place is pretty real. I have received help on issues with my R1100GS from both sites. That was the draw to ADVrider in the first place. BMWMOA didn't have a forum when I started riding. The two sites together are my biggest resource when it comes to my bike, foot wear, coffee makers, rallies, political discourse, and BS.

That is up to the OP isn't it?
Plus if it is as he claims then no risk, right?
In other words put up or....
We all know the rest. :whistle
Come on now, don't send the links around in PM's, post it here for *everyone* to judge.

I did!
3 hrs each way for 2 hrs of bottomless sand on a 1150gs with balding knobbies did not help..
and i even changed diapers all night afterwards.... though that i actually dont mind since it is for the comfort of my little one.

See!? That's what I'm talkin' about. I'm trying to get my 2-1/2 yr old son to crap in the toilet. That's a priority in life, and his comfort, like you said. Therefore, any and all internet forums fall way off the charts in the hierarchy of "**** to get balled up over".
'Aint life grand?

I have this one linked on my blog, I think it's the best damn ride report (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269251), ever. :thumb
As with any site, most of it's milk, you have to look hard to find the cream, but it's there.
Thanks for that link! What a great read!!
I'm trying to D/L the PDF to keep it forever, but all I get is the squigly's instead of text. But I digress

Sounds like sour grapes to me.
They have so few rules there, it's hard to imagine getting perma-banned when it's so easy to stay.

Advrider is cool, the Jo Momma part depends on how much abuse you can handle.
Have fun....maybe.....:)

Not even close. Maximumbikes can be a lot of fun, without the drama.

Someone once said, "JoMomma is optional"
And, sorry UFO, I just watched the video: those weren't pasties, they were fake moustaches pasted above her bits

And it conversely serves as a convenient place for some to air grievances about MOA and MOA forums.... :whistle
