I have an opportunity to purchase a front end from a 1984 RT (dual bremos) for my /6. Other than requiring a different master cylinder what are the pro and con????

I've looked into this myself and if you get everything with front end including the hoses and splitter for the hose, all you really need is the new hand grip and hose. The wiring from that should work with the /6. don't think they added any new switches but I'm sure you could sort that out. the other thing is, obviously, the wheel, I'm not sure if the /6 wheel will have the other side drilled for a disk rotor or not. I'd also go with streel lines. Its a big improvement over the stock braking from all reports. The one down side I have told is that the early 80's forks are not quite as sturdy as the mid late 70's ones from the /6 and /7, but still I would go for it.

Are the wheels going to be an issue? One has spokes and I presume the other was for a cast front wheel.

I have an '81 with the dual front Brembos. The first four years I rode the bike, We were living two and a half miles down a private, virtually unmaintained semi-gravel road (river rock and dirt). So every ride included at least five miles of ragged a** road.
I have never had a problem with the sturdiness of the forks.

Oh, I'm not saying they will break or anything just as I have been told they were not quite as sturdy, if I get a good price on some I'd do it to. I beleive it was that the sliders were slightly smaller in diameter. the trade off is better calipers over slighty heavier duty sliders.

meh. hairsplitting, maybe. ive owned 3 dual-disc /7s, flogged the hell out of all of them, no frontend issues, ever.

so many folks so overanalyze these bikes sometimes :whistle
