Gee ,I wish his letter was correct . My 02r1150rt final drive was rebuilt by Lone Star BMW in Austin,Texas on Saturday 9-13-08 (great job guys- take your stuff to them). Due to the written advice from Mr. Paul Glaves I have changed the final drive GL-5 fluid every time that I changed the engine oil and filter, which was every 3K to 5K miles. I used Mobil One full syn 75-90 wt. in the transmission and rear drive units. The final drive fluid turned a black color with flecks of metal in the fluid at the last fluid change. It had been the same color as it went in at every other fluid change . I changed the fluid in the final drive after another 100 miles since the drive started to sound like a really bad washing machine. I made it to Austin, Texas only with the help of a trailer.
