While riding back from the Beemer Bash, I started thinking (bad idea…yeah I know, but please hear me out). I have been compiling the Independent BMW Motorcycle Shop GPS Locations for a couple of years, and that has worked out very well. Why not do the same for good food stops? I am talking about non-corporation restaurants (no McDonalds, Denney’s, Lyons…you get the picture).

I will start out with these:

El Faro
Mexcian
2280 Monument Blvd
Concord, CA
(925) 827-0976
Shrimp Tacos on Friday

Peking Boy
Chinese
2290 Monument Blvd.
Pleasant Hill, CA
925-682-9888
Next to the porno shop

Duke’s Diner
Mexican-American
1770 7th Ave
Olivehurst, CA
(530) 741-2970
Awesome biskets and gravey

Red Rum Burger
American
978 Olive Dr
Davis, CA
(530) 756-2142
Try the osrtage burger and the peanut butter milkshake

Sudwerk
German-American
2001 2nd St, Davis, CA 95618
(530)758-8700
Awesome beer and food

Add "Morning Thunder" in Quincy to the list. Outstanding breakfasts, along with some seriously good coffee.

Good thread. :wave What makes a good trip is often scenery and good food. I add the adjective of "DIFFERENT" to scenery and good food. Going to Mcdonalds as you travel is convenient, but adds little to the trip experience.

I've been building this site for exactly the sort of places you mentioned. It takes the GPS element too and I have some plans ahead (when I get back from the Three Teas Tour, to expand even further on unchainedworld.com

I was riding by a local eatery when I saw an 1150r in the parking lot. I do not see many BMW Motorcycles in the Alpena, Michigan area so I had to stop and speak with the rider.
This gentleman was riding home to Florida from taking a trip up to Alaska. He stopped at the following eatery just because this place is known for the best French Toast in North America.

Connie's Cafe'
11585 U.S. 23 South
Ossineke, Michigan
49766

(989)-471-5415

Connie and her staff are absolute sweetheart's. They now have an understanding of BMW Motorcycles and the people that ride them. I have had the honor of bringing my club BMW Touring Club of Detroit into Connie's for some great food and a lot of laugh's.

I've emailed BMWMOA to see if we can link unchainedworld.com to it to provide an ongoing database and resource for Beemer riders. I've done this two or three times, but have never received any response, at all, not even a "No, go away".

Who would I need to talk to?
Anyone with any Directorial clout read Campfire, that can at least point me in a direction?

Cheers,

Lamble.

Harold's BBQ
not far from the federal pen
Atlanta, GA

Get the pork plate, off the shoulder, half-in/half-out with hush puppies, cracklin' bread, and sweet tea. (I'm originally a Northerner and I needed a translation the first time I heard this order too....)

B.O.'s Fishwagon
801 Caroline St
Key West, FL 33040-6642
(305) 294-9272

Fresh fish sandwiches and platters, conch fritters, great fries, but only bottled beer and no credit cards. If you order a fish sandwich and fries you will be charged for the fries. If you order the fish sandwich special you get the fries free. Don't tell anyone.

Here's one that I'll be adding to unchained later:

The Burnt Finger BBQ at Winthrop, well just south on the way to Twisp.
The food isn't great as the BBQ makes the pork taste like the beef, like the chicken. The service is lousy, the guy playing C&W was attrocious too. so what's to recommend?

Well you are perched high over a river, where it is shallow enough for it to be a deer crossing. As the sun drops, the deer came out and stealthily picked their way across the river as a full moon picked out the silver ripples of water.

This helps to overcome the fact that the owner has had a serious injury recently and is on medication so strong, that he can't tell that he is dribbling on your table as he speaks to you.

Unchained is only about praising the good parts of any experience, so the deer will be mentioned, but not the rest...but, it's all about creating enough memories during your lifetime,be they good or bad, just so that your last words don't end up being, "If only..."

Actually, the beef ribs were okay, bit dribbly but okay. Steaks were off the menu as they were too hard for the guy to cook any more.

Lamble, Next time you're in Winthrop, try out the brewpub in the "schoolhouse" building. It has the same kind of setting in back, and I recall that a few years ago, the food was quite good.

The Duck Inn was okay, but it's those places that you remember fondly that you should be posting at http://www.unchainedworld.com

The Burnt Finger had the deer crossing, that was what set it apart.
