Just learned that in order to ship a bike (K75S) from CA to Hawaii it must first be drained of all gas & fluids before crating. Will this be a problem with the fuel pump? I've heard that it can be a bit touchy.

Was to siphon off the gas into several gas cans. Apart from the mouth of gasoline initially, it worked just fine. I then removed the tank and inverted it to get out the last couple of ounces.
The whole job shouldn't take you more than a couple of beers to finish.

Guess siphoning is the simplest and best way once I get the bike to the shippers--thanks.
I was mostly wondering if it might mess up the K-bike fuel pump? I'm under the impression they're very touchy...

fuel pumps get grouchy when you try to operate them without fuel. just sitting should be no issue- otherwise they would all have to be stored in mason jars filled with gasoline on the dealer's shelf; not a very practical operation.

Thanks, Bikerfish! That makes perfect sense and I feel kinda dumb for not realizing this already. :banghead
Since I may have to drain the oil as well there's no chance the bike will be started until I uncrate it and replace all the fluids after it arrives from it's long voyage (I'll put some masking tape over the ignition just to make double sure I don't have a highly unfortunate senior moment!).:wow

I would suggest you disconnect the battery and tape the cable ends. It will be safer for many reasons.

Yes, I think that's another shipping company requirement upon delivery of the bike and a good thing to do anyway. Thanks for the reminder.
I just hope that they don't ask me to drain the final drive and radiator, etc. as that would be an extra chore I'd rather avoid.
