I have a 08 r1200rt. Any feed back on a Sargent seat would be most helpful.

Put the World Sport Sargent saddles on by R1200RT the first year I owned it.

SUPER comfortable, for both myself and the SO.

Iron Butt in July.....no sore butts whatsoever.

I have a sensitive back that actually feels better when I ride, and I credit the Sargent seats with that.

Lot's of opinions on lots of seats out there, but you asked specifically about Sargent.....buy it and never look back!

We put the sargent seat on the wifes 06 1200 RT. She loves it. Far superior to the stock seat. It is the only one we have tried however. She says the more she rides the better it is. Have had it for at least 16000 miles.

Do you mean the "The World Sport" saddle?? I can't find a "world tour" saddle on their web site.

+1 for Sargent. I've got one on my R1150R and have many 1000s of miles on it.

I put a sargent seat on my 08 K1200S. When it arrived it felt hard, much like a Corbin. I have put about 3,000 miles on it and find it comfortable and I am able to ride all day(400+miles) with no discomfort.

I have the OEM lower seat and have yet to have a problem. All I use is sheepskin and have logged many a 10 hour day. I guess each person is different, but I would not jump to change just because many do - FWIW

My feeedback on Sargent is short...

Get one. They are very comfortable. Teamed up with an alaska leather pad its almost dreamlike. Its takin 6 weeks to get one from sargent for my GS.

In the interest of buying a seat, does anyone know if Sargent sets up a vendor booth at Daytona during Bike Week or Biketoberfest? I know some vendors will install a seat and send your stock seat home for you. Would be great if I could get hooked up with this.

I spent 5 days at Bike Week in '04, but I wasn't looking for Sargents at the time (had Mustang seats on my Volusia cruiser back then), so can't say.

But hey...they're in northern Florida, so maybe?!

When I got my World Sport seat, I wanted it fast for an upcoming road trip, so I called the company direct to order. Dealt with some very nice people...seat arrived a few days later.

Love it!

I have a Sargent non-standard low seat (no logo, no topstitch and Symphony vinyl) that took about 3,000 miles to break in. Seat works fine with the Suburban Machinery bar backs that I put on it.

Gary, I tried the OEM seat, then had it modified by one of the hotshot custom guys...three times, finally got a refund from him, and ordered the Sargent directly from them, because you get a 30 day return option, you're only out the shipping. Seat has about 10k miles on it now, many super-long days, both my wife and I are happy. The little storage compartments are a useful bonus. Customer service is responsive and helpful.

Having praised it, there are two relatively minor issues to be aware of:

1. The heated version requires that you cut the OEM plug off, and wire up a kinda cheap plug setup they send. It's a slight hassle to do, but has not faltered (the pillion switch is a toggle on the left, rather than right side, and is almost impossible to reach when under way).

2. On some R1200RTs, the rider seat, set in the high position, has a problem. Sometimes the rear "feet" will slip off the top step onto the "low" setting. Sargent is aware of the issue, and has created a little "fit kit" for it. I have the kit, but have not installed it, as I simply stuck some self-adhesive dual lock in the front "pocket" of the pan (where it fits into the high/low rubber thingies) and have had no problem since then. In defense of Sargent, there are now reports of OEM seat pans doing the same thing, one in particular I'm aware of after being modified by one of the custom seat guys. This is simply something you should be aware of; the solution is very easy.

I came from a Goldwing, so was familiar with super-comfort, and was frankly a little worried my wife wouldn't be happy with the RT. The Sargent resolved that concern. Finally, I suffer from chronic pain from a broken tailbone. I'd modified the Goldwing seat to accommodate the area, and could ride all day. The OEM seat rear "rise" caused too much pressure, even after I'd carved it up. The custom guy put the rise back in, not once, but three times, after detailed instructions from me. The Sargent, with its flat profile, solved my pain, and my wife's discomfort.

Mark,
Are you using the BMW handlebar switch to operate the heater? My Sargent seat should arrive any day now with heater option. I want to avoide using their controller and be able to wire into the OEM wiring some how. Was this possible on your bike? Mine is an 03KGT. Thanks.

I have the Sargeant low heated seat. The modification to plug it into the RT electronics is simple and leaves the OEM plug in place as well. The driver seat is operated from the OEM handlebar switch. I love mine. My wife refuses to ride in cold weather so I never wired the passenger seat.

Yup, they supplied everything needed to change the connectors. Mine is an R12RT. Works just like the OEM seat heater.
