Is there an easy way to tell if my seat on my 1999 RT1100RT-P is a Comfort seat or Standard? Does anyone have the part numbers of both? I've just recently purchased the bike and sorting it all out.
Thanks!

The comfort seat isn't much more comfortable than it's predecessor. It's biggest claim to fame was that it didn't force you into the tank as you rode. The easiest way to sort the seat out is to try other after market seats.
You can't break in a BMW seat, everyone I knew that tried to conceeded to the seat.

BWM Comfort Seat is an oxymoron. My understanding though is that the police/authority version came with the comfort seat. Seriously, I recommend an aftermarket seat. I had a comfort seat, and switched to a Sargent. Much more better.

The part no for the comfort seat is 71 60 7 654 460. It should appear on the underside of your seat. I must be an exception to the rule because I find my comfort seat very comfortable.

My standard seat has the part number 5253 2313 651 on the
underside of the seat frame.

Looks like mine is a standard seat with a number of 5253 2313 651. Thanks for the confirmation. I thought it might be a comfort seat since it is a police unit. I rode it about two hours the other day and it wasn't too comfortable.
Thanks to all for the assistance on this thread!

The comfort seat is much thicker which is very obvious if you have them side by side. I found it not too bad, especially if you jack the front up. I still got a Rick Mayer seat which I'm very happy with.
