FWIW -

Spent Saturday doing a 250 mile circuit behind the Front Range to checkout how the aspens were coming along. From Denver, we took CO 285 west up through Bailey to Fairplay. Then it was CO 9 south to Hartsel to CO 24 east through Woodland Park to the Springs. Taking I-25 north to Monument, we took CO 105 north through Palmer Lake to Sedalia and Santa Fe north back to Denver.

Missing Denver BMW's Saturday party was the only casualty.

Bailey saw the local Corvette Club out in force. Apart from a towed helicopter, the roads were pretty RV free for this late of the riding summer season.

Unfortunately, August's heat and rain have kept the aspen leaves from turning. Only saw two CHP cars, two Sheriff SUVs, and three local police cars trolling for speeders the entire day.

Bottom line, it'll take another 2-3 weeks before the aspen leaves take on their golden hue.

Cheers...

JK,

I often haul out my maps to track the travels in some of my favorite reads, Jim Harrison, for example. It's not at all like being there, but it frequently leads to a better comprehension of the story. I was doing fine with you until we got to Sedalia, then I got lost trying to stay with 105. Oh well... I did see some pretty wild terrain. I've been over it at 35000 feet or so many times; I'm always tempted to bail out just to see what's down there. Anything to see besides those Aspens?
