Wondering how hard is it to replace front fork seals? One has a leak and on my last trip was leaking at a good rate. Had oil slinging up inside the fairing.

I was wondering if it would be better to take it into a shop or something I could handle myself. I am pretty good mechanically as I rebuild my own egines and do much work myself. Would I need some special tools to compress springs, etc?

Thanks

It is quite easy. Get a Clymer manual and have at it.
Might want to lube and preload the streering head bearings at the same time.
They might need replacing and cheap too as they are a standad bearing size.
Hope you change both seals.

When I was replacing my fork seals w/ a friend we found a nice 2" pipe coupler in the lighting/wiring department at the local hardware store. This was nice to help pound the seal into place. cost $2, it was nice that it was the right size and smooth.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like this will be a job done at home. I do have a Clymer book so should be good to go.

Thanks for the advice.
