Here's a thread where you can post a map or photo of your favorite road closest to home.
Old Santa Cruz Highway, Los Gatos, CA. To mix it up a bit on the commute home I take the old twisty road which is newly paved.

What's your favorite road close to home?

Quarry Rd off of Old Forty Foot Rd near Mainland, PA. About three miles from my house so I usually take it going and coming on a lot of my rides. Not a long road but curvy that passes some old weathered buildings and usually has little traffic and lots of fun on an old airhead. :D

That's a good one, Burnz, but there are so many. Why didn't you go for Mt. Charlie Rd.? I like Vine Hill Rd., but mostly because I ride that every time I go over the hill to Sili Valley.

Mountain Charlie sucks. It's one lane, bumpy, and you have to go slow on it. Actually Bear Creek from 17 to Skyline is awesome with lots of tight turns. It actually should be my favorite. I need to ride it more.

With a GS I'd expect you'd love Mt. Charlie Rd. I suppose you don't like Morrill Cutoff (between Summit and Soquel-San Jose), either?
Yeah, Bear Creek is a fine road. Don't forget the other side, going down into Boulder Creek! And then you can take Jameson Creek Rd. up to Empire Grade and back down on Alba or Ice Cream Grade or Felton-Empire... So many choices!
And if you look at the very upper left of the map you included, try out Gist Rd. Very short, but very tight.

Excellent idea, but it's difficult to choose a favorite! So many roads; so little time...

Lucky SOB, that is why I have to ride 19 hours to that area a couple of times a year.
But you left a few out.

Here is the general area in the Santa Cruz Mountains where Burnszilla and I live. This image is roughly 25 miles square. You can see some of the roads we've been yakking about, but naturally, some of the nicer ones are smaller and twistier and don't show on this view.
BTW, Silicon Valley is visible to the north and just the tip of Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley to the south.

Stop this right now, You are making me change my riding plans next year. Virgina is doable on the way to National but California I am going to need another two weeks. :lurk
Well NE and N Central PA has its share of very nice roads as well, you should not be too jealous.

Indeed, I did. Some of our local roads fall into the "SUPER-DOUBLE-TOP-SECRET" category and are are not to be released via unecrypted communications or posted on a public forum under any circumstances.
:nyah
Sorry, but we must take these extreme measures to avoid the "Tail of the Dragon" syndrome, you know...

Is Troutdale, Marion, and Tazewell a password ? Or do I need to show a secret throttle twist ? It is the only road that I ever was on when I was leaning into the apex I almost scrapped my helmet on a cliff wall. :ha I would have used the delayed apex move if the road was wide enough.
Don't forget a nice slow ride over to Damascus for an ice cream

Yep, that's a nice area and Route 16 is a great road. One of these weekends I'm going to ride 16 from Troutdale all the way up to St Marys, WV.

When traveling from Jacksonville, FL to Daytona there is a section of the "Old Dixie Highway" from I-95 Bunnel exit to Ormand Beach that features a tree lined 2 lane road. Great scenery including beautiful homes and the Intracoastal Waterway. Ride Safe :usa

Some squigglies near my house -
One of my favorite routes, and an occasional commute-to-home route.
The pictured route is a little over 20 miles in length. It begins at the hospital in Asheville, cuts across town on a couple of side streets and then climbs Town Mountain Road (NC 694) to the BRPW at Craven Gap. Then it runs the Parkway south to US 25/Hendersonville Road, finally ending in my neighborhood.
Town Mountain Rd (pssst) is the local well kept secret. Not quite as many curves as the Dragon, and only about 7 miles long, but easily twice the challenge with several series of true esses. It'll take care of your chicken stripes right now.
