I lost it during valve adjustment on my R1150RT. Can it wait till my next adjustment till I replace it?
I forgot about it until AFTER I replaced the fairing side panel.
Thanks

I don't think it makes a difference. Mine was lost and not replaced thousands of miles ago

IVE wondered about that as well...the one on my R 80 has been missing for quite some time. I put a piece of duct tape on it for the time being. I just dont want rain or small critters finding their way inside. not sure how long its been missing.

Other than the Timing Gremlin possibly escaping I think you are ok until the next service:laugh

it's been talked about before- probably no issue to the motor to have the plug inside it. i'd like something to cover the hole- maybe duct tape or similar.
and fwiw- there is NO need to pull that plug to set the valves. just use the arrows on the cam sprocket to find TDC. very simple, no muss, no fuss.

You can buy a replacement plug for the older airhead engines that is more robust & next to impossible to lose "inside" the flywheel housing at least. I'd just put a little tape over the hole till you're able to pick one up sometime.

you'll find it eventually when you have to replace the rear main seal, clutch or transmission input seal.:laugh
