Well today was the day I picked to change the fork seals and adjust the valves on my R1100RT.
The fork seal job was time consuming and slow for my first time on the Beemer.
What was really a shock to me came during the valve adjustment .
To my surprise , when I popped both valve covers and found the clearances didn't need adjustment, was how clean the inside of the engine was as the bike has 95,000 miles on it.
No wonder these run for ever!

Going to move you to Oilheads since those looking for this kind of info will probably find it there easier.

Valve adjustment, throttlebody synch's and Autolite 3923 spark plugs will do wonders to smooth these big twins out.

Yep, it sure did for mine. That a complete TB cleaning in TB cleaner anyway.

One ohter side note. What you are looking at is the oil filled side of the head. If you pull a throttle body, you'll see a much different picture. :)

My '96 RT was heavily varnished on the TB and intake on the left and heavily carbon coated on the TB and intake on the right.
