Has anyone painted their sidecases successfully?
Mine are a bit weathered and slightly scarred.

A local body shop did mine in the same color as the bike (Piedmont red). They took the lids and badges off and then used a filler paint primer to get a smooth surface. When finished, they pop riveted the lids back on and reattached the BMW badges. It was about $80 or so and looks great - no more scuffed bags!

I did mine about two years ago. I started by sanding the lids dowm to 400 grit. Then I primed and painted them the same color as the bike,Atlanta Blue, and covered that with clear coat. I let that dry for a couple of days and rubbed the lids out with rubbing compound. I did both the standard and city lids, the paint and solvents cost about $65.00. Sprayer was an Apollo HVLP. This was the first time I ever painted and it was a snap. After I was finished I reassembled with a slick system that allows the lids to be switched in about 5 minutes. http://www.evolutioncycles.com/product%20info.htm
