Hi ya’ll, my 01 R1100R has chrome valve covers and I hate them, I just don’t like chrome on my Bikes, if I wanted chrome I’d ride a Harley. I’ve been looking for non-chrome replacement valve covers but can’t find any that fit my year/model or at least I can’t get any vendor to go out on a limb and say if a different year/model will fit. Will valve covers off other years/models fit my 2001 R1100R? Many thanks in advance.

You can always paint them! Next time the covers are off (when you're checking your valve clearances) Mask 'em and spray 'em. If you're not the painting type, I'd be willing to bet there is an autobody shop close by that'll spray then for you. Matt black (or aluminum grey to match your engine) would look nice.

All R1100s are the same as far as valve cover fitting is concerned.

Thanks Ikris but that's just it, all 01 R1100R valve covers that I can find are chrome; but, are you saying that any R1100S or any other model/year will work as long as it's an R1100?

Just make sure they're for a single spark (pre 2004) bike.

I love my chrome. I have wheels, valve covers, side skirts, and drag link all chrome and love them. They can get as dirty and clean off real easy.

Trade you covers with someone that would like them.

Wow Rob, nice Bike. But chrome just not me and I would not trade them as some of the chrome is starting to lift-up in-between the cooling fins, can't see it but still it's there. I'm going to take one into work, we have a sand blaster so I'm going to see if I can't blast the stuff off. If that works I'm going to paint them a nice sexy battleship grey.:laugh

Have you considered sand blasting and then maybe matte or flat black powder-coating? It would give the look of some of the old air-heads that had black valve covers. Plus, powder-coating will hold up better under hi-heat conditions than paint.

yes, ANY single spark R1100 valve cover will fit. the motors are all (basically) the same.
powder-coated....
