I have a tapping sound or the right side after the engine is warm. It's a clack, clack sound not a clock, clock sound. I don't suspect a wrist pin because of the sound. I thought it was a lifter but I adjusted the valves and it's still there. It's only after it's warmed up. There is some slop in the throttle body but this is a different sound. Anybody have any ideas what it may be?

What bike? How many miles? The right side throttle body shaft wears on the Oilheads. If you press on the pulley for the right side cable, does the noise go away?

Oh yea, it's an 03 r1150r. 34000 miles. It's not the throttle body. It does have some slop and does make a noise, but it's a different noise and I can stop it by holding the pulley.

Ray,
Have you checked the rocker arm end play? They have such a wide tolerance, they can be REALLY noisy and still be within factory specs. I adjust mine to 0.002" which is the lower end of the spec.

Thanks Mick! I didn't think about end play and that's exactly the kind of sound I have.

Ray,
Here is a write-up on the adjustment:

It's OK if you can ignore the feeble attempts at humor. :)

I first brought this up in 1995 when my kid's R1100GS sounded like a box
of rocks when warm. See page 39 here:
