Rich, check for missing or bent metal "petals" on the retaining clips as well as a small split ring around each assembly. Make sure when you press the mirror back in place you engage/hear all three studs pop in place. Either fabricate or buy (Bob's BMW) some retaining tethers for the mirrors, the wires may not hold the next time and replacement mirrors are exspensive.
The seat will not soften much but will conform somewhat to your shape after 10-20k miles of saddle time. Some have alterd the fore/aft tilt to suit.

Raising the front of your seat will help. CycleGadgets has a kit called "Seat Jacks" designed to do that.

20,000 miles? No wonder the aftermarket seat business is booming. :brow

If you have trouble reaching the ground the rear of the seat can be lowerd instead by removing the rear bumpers and cutting down the plastic mounting post a bit. Then cut the bumpers to match. Not reversable, but most won't care.

I've had the mirrors on my 2004 RT removed at track day and it takes a pretty hard push to get them to pop out. It's possible they weren't seated right when the bike was put together out of the crate at the dealer. That really shouldn't happen if they are seated right.
As for the stock saddle, my stock seat started hurting around the 300 mile mark so I bought a Bill Mayer ( actually "Rocky" his son , Bill is no longer living) MeyerBill Mayer (http://billmayersaddles.com ) it's well made and a whole lot better.
Many say his estranged brother Rick Mayer, makes an equal or better saddle. I've only heard good about both.Rick Mayer (http://www.homestead.com/prosites-rmcycle/mayercycle.html)
Both pricey, but hay, you've gone this far.

Mine came with a Corbin and it is very comfortable. I have the stock seat in a box and may try it someday. These BMW stock seats seem a lot firmer than most new bike seats. That cushy feel in the showroom usually equates to butt burn later on down the road. All my HD seats were like that and it was usually one of the first things I replaced.

Mirrors.
Get yourself a couple of 75 lbs 9 inch fishing leaders. attach the mirrors to the fairing using small screws. Or use electrical crimp connectors and small gauge wire.
seat. I just completed a SS1000. Really didn't have any problem...maybe the self contained padding helps.:D
