I have a 99 r1100s single spark, and I removed the coil per my clymer manual to test it. Everything looked fine during removal, but upon trying to test it I noticed that the terminals don't match up with the diagram in the book. The coil in the book has three different spade type electrical connectors, while my coil has a single plug with just two pin connectors. Now I'm unsure how to properly test the coil for resistance, as I have a suspicion it's gone awry. Any suggestions on testing the coil? I've done the performance test- as in visually inspecting the spark plugs while grounded to the head, sonyhe coil may be good, but I'd like to know with certainty and any suggestions are very welcome. I know I haven't given up any symptoms, but that could be a whole 'nother thread altogether and I'd need to be on my computer to type it all up (just on the iPhone now).

Thanks

The two small terminal pins are the primary. The resistance there would be somewhat in the low ohms, below 10 say. The towers, where the ign wires go, have a high impedance of maybe 1K ohms measuring between them and are infinite measuring to the primary or metal on the case. Just guessing here, but those are the correct ranges of impedance. They don't often go bad, but if there are any cracks in the case, replace it.

Thanks!
Primary resistance should be 0.5 Ohm and the Secondary should read about 7.5K Ohms at room temp.
