Minimum throttle cable free play

I am wondering why service manual specify minimum throttle free play 0.5mm for 1993--1995 models and 2mm for 1996-on models.

There was a change in the style of cable from the early models to the later ones. Not sure why there is more slack needed though, but it is likely something to do with the newer style cable versus the older one.
