I have a 2004 R1150RT-P (police). The original switch for heated grip has been replaced for other functions, it has a sticker marked three positions: "Off" "Rear" "All". I don't think it is connected to anything now. Don't know what was that for either.

I want to connect the (police) heated grip switch back to original switch. Has anyone done that? Wondering how original switch achieve 50% and 100% heat?
I haven't figured out how to do 50%/100% on police heated grip switch - or if it is possible at all.

Thanks,
Karl Chen

The switch marked, off, rear, all, was for the emergency lights. The strobes would drain a battery pretty quickly so you want to cut the front lights once the stop is made in order to e able to start up again later on. If the wiring is all still there you'll have a rats nest of dead end wiring to sort out should you go into it.

FWIW the heated grips switch on my RT has 3 positions as well, off low and high.

The police bike switch for heated grip has three positions too. The middle position is Off, I found no difference on the other two On positions, they are both 100% heat On.

I wonder if original switch at 50% position simply connect both side grips in series, so there is only 6V going over each grip.
