How do most of you clean throttle bodies?

I have a 1998 R1100RT and experienced some problems while synching the throttle bodies this spring. I had a carbon build up that was evidenced by the deposits on the Large Brass Bypass Screws. What is the easiest way to clean the throttle bodies and the areas surrounding the Large Brass Bypass Screws? Do you just remove the throttle bodies and then apply carboretor cleaner? Is there any other way to gain access for cleaning. The dealer had to clean and adjust the potentiometer this spring to bring the engine back to smooth running form. Just wondering if I can do a yearly cleaning that would assist the smooth running to continue? I do run Sea Foam through the tank each 3,000 miles or so to clean out any fuel deposits that may have accumulated.

I tried a lot of Techron, but it never made a dent in my throttle bodies. My accumulations was so bad I was unable to adjust the idle with the BBS for a throttle body sync. So I removed my TBs completely. Easy enough to do. I left the TPS alone (no modification).

I used Throttle Body cleaner (not carburator cleaner) to clean each opening in the TB, plus a significant amount to clean the internior/exterior of each TB. Took about 3 ~ 4 cans to completely clean it out. I also removed the fuel injector so I could clean out the TB passages there as well. Then I replaced all the O rings.

Afterwards, with a new TB sync I could adjust the idle speed and my motor idled & accelerated very smoothly.
