We organized a quick Wisconsin ride, with Jack as our guide and host. Steve's attempt to show off his new (to him) RT, which replaced his K1200LT was foiled by a broken clutch cable... which happened enroute to the breakfast meeting place. Fortunately 1. He was running early 2. It broke at a place where he could ride back without stopping (no small feat in suburban Chicago on a Saturday morning) 3. He has a back-up bike in the form of a Harley V-Rod.
Anyhow we met and rode up to meet Jack in the land of Cheese and Beer. Jack was mapping out a ride for the Wisconsin Beemer riders and invited us to come along.

Jack knows the roads of Southern Wisconsin like the back of his hand and led us on a really fun ride that incorporated many "Rustic Roads", so we got more than our share of narrow (paved) lanes for some spirited riding.
We stopped a a perfectly bizzare Wisconsin landmark - "The Bunker" which is both a roadside museum featuring Military hardware and a tavern. I'm not the student of this, but Jack and Steve are. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view the Bunker wasn't open for business that early in the morning, so we rode on.
A sidebar on Steve's V-Rod. I have no idea where he got this machine - I'll take the Porsche design quals as a good thing. The previous owner had festooned the bike with 64 sharp steel spikes. Steve has removed almost all of them... it's down to 19 spikes. Why are there any spikes? We have no idea. One of them scratched my leg when I accidently walked too close, probably the same one that injured Steve's leg a few weeks back.
Hmm. Sharp steel spikes on a bike. Great idea. :stick
Steve - if they are somehow core to the Harley experience, at least put little rubber caps on them to slightly reduce the danger.
All kidding (and spikes aside), it was a good ride, the Wisconsin roads were a gas, I appreciated Jack being a ride guide.... and Steve was able to get a replacement cable and fix his lovely RT all in the same day.
Cheers!
