lowering pegs 1100rt

thinking of lowering foot pegs on my '99 rt.. right now my seat is at its highest position and I'm very comfortable riding.. but, not flat footed and its like climbing on a horse..

wanted to get the pegs lowered.. any thoughts? will it affect shifting, etc..
