My local dealer, CycleWerks, Barrington, Il, recently told me that I needed to have the throttle cables and box replaced on my '02 RT which has 30,000 miles. The twist grip had become more difficult to operate over the past few months.

They also said BMW was recommending replacement of these items at 18,000 miles.

Anybody heard of this? Any recommendation or advice if I do it myself?

Thanks for any help or advice,

Jim Meigs

Jim, I would think that an '02 with less than 36k would still be under warranty. The cables might not be by a long stretch (no pun intended) but the box? Ask your dealer if its coverd.
