Any tips on removing the rear wheel on an 07' R1200R. I want to remove the wheel and deliver just the rim to the dealer to have the bad tire replaced instead of having them do everything for me. I haven't really examined what needs to be done but I'm thinking it can't be that hard. I'd like to get comfortable working on the bike in case someday I really need to. What do you think?

On my '07 RT you need to swing the muffler out of the way. I assume it's the same for your R.

Dig out your manual, it should all be in there.

Find a buddy with a torque wrench if you don't have one when you reinstall the wheel.

I took my muffler off and put anti-seize grease on the connection to make the job easier in the rusted future. I also painted the heads of my wheel bolts white to allow a quick visual inspection to make sure they were all there.

I think the basics have been covered. You'll need some large Torx wrenches/drivers to remove the muffler mounting bolt, and then a socket or closed-box wrench to loosen up the clamp on the muffler/cat-converter joint. The muffler simply swings outwards out of the way. You can then loosen the 5 bolts (also Torx) and remove the wheel. The tool kit does not have all that is needed to perform this task (it has very little useful actually.)

One reassembly - the reverse works. The 5 wheel bolts should be torqued on reassembly (I seem to recall around 50ft/lbs, but CHECK the specs - don't count on my memory.)
