Several times now, after riding 1-2 hrs, and I stop and turn off the engine. When I go to turn the ignition back on, I find the display blank, and after turning the ignition off and on a couple of times....the clock goes to 0:00......and the engine barely turns over. If it starts, and I immediately turn it off, it will turn over normally, and start immediately.

Yesterday, it happened again, and when I got it started, I shut it off, and when I restarted, there was a funny sound from the starter and smoke came from the general area of the starter (smelling electrical)....I then shut it off. It then started immediately....with no smoke. Pulled the cover off the starter to see if any evidence of a burnt or loose connection.....and everything appears normal........???

This is all really strange....and i would like to get resolved before I get totally stranded. The Bendix is starting to sound like it is hanging up. Wondering if starter can be rebuilt?

Any ideas how to sort this out? Tks LARRY :cry

Did you check the battery connections? Everything you said is consistent with a loose terminal.
