Can anyone give me a good way to remove bug parts from my bikes? I have seen some suggestions before. One of my bikes has fresh paint and I don't want to wreck the paint job. Thanks for the help.:brow Kevin

I just got in from a 200 mile ride clear night, 68 degrees in the country rodes in Maryland, Bug splatter (and purple bird crap) galore. I have a new Cee Bailey's windshield that I don't want to scratch. I use hot water with mild dishsoap and a super soft polishing cloth I bought at a Harley dealership for polishing all that chrome. The warm water really loosens it up and it wipes off in stages. Should work on paint too.

50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water mixed in a spray bottle. Wet the front of the bike with the mixture and the splatter will wash off with fresh water alone.

When you live in the middle of love bug country it's the only revenge you get against the miserable things. The hydrogen peroxide makes little foamy spots where the bugs used to be.

This won't harm paint, plastic, or rubber.

i remove bugs from my helmet and other larger surfaces by taking a paper towel and soaking it with water. then i drape it over the surface and have a few sips of my beer. a few minutes later, the bugs are wet and soft and i can easily remove them with little/no scratching.

doing this with HOT water helps even more. i personally use a terry cloth.

Thank you all. I'm on vacation this week and have 4 bikes to debug. I really like the sip of beer method. Kevin:beer
