When I purchased this bike the cb worked as expected, use this when group riding. During a recent service the tech found a stray wire and asked if it was ak to remove it as it was not being used. I said OK, big mistake. Took it back to have it reattached and now the cb is all static. The wire was intended for use with a walkman or something similar. I wanted to have my gps audio output to my helmet speakers. Puzzled by why this happened. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?Hmmm ... are you saying that the wire removed was in no way a part of your J&M CB power supply line? Did the CB work at all after the stray wire was removed? I have the same CB and the same bike and there is an inline noise filter on the J&M power supply cable. For best results, it should connect as directly to the battery as possible to reduce noise from high beam, ABS, turn signals, etc.

Did you readjust your squelch setting? Unless he removed the grounding
from the noise filter (the blue box) I don't see why you would have static.
With the noise filter/voltage supply box ungrounded, you would get mostly
alternator whine, not static.
