I just bought a Stebel horn for my 1983 R100T and am wondering if anyone has any tips, tricks, suggestions on where and how to mount the horn. It's very loud, but I have to say the mounting hardware and instructions are pathetic.

:dunno Any suggestions, especially from those who have mounted a Stebel on an Airhead would be helpful. I have a Vetter Windjammer III fairing.

My advice would be to mount it to the short cross-bar near the top of the downtubes. You'll have to make up a bracket, and don't forget to use a relay. These photos are of such an installation on an R100R, which has an extra crossbar farther down to shich the oil-coller mounts. I had less room with which to work due to the presence of the cooler. If your bike has no cooler, it should be a lot easier.

Hey, thanks for the pictures. I don't have an oil cooler. As far as I can tell, there is just one place for a mount on the horn itself. I suppose I could also clamp it with zipties.

An issues with air/rain blowing up the horn mouth? I suppose it all just drains down and out,eh?

It came with a relay, and pretty lame instructions on mounting it with the existing horns or without. I bought 14 gauge wire. I may just leave the old horns there and coil up the wiring. This thing is pretty damned loud.
