Months and months ago I was in a accident, not on a bike. I was told I would not ride until at least November ( mangled my left arm adn hand, and other things). Well for the past month I have been squeezing the clutch and rode it last week. At a check up yesterday I told the doc. And she said
well its good physical therepy for your hand , and if makes you feel better, then ride.
Hey who am I to ignore docs orders;)
its sitting outside my office window now, waiting for lunch

Yahooooooooooooo:bolt

I guess the twisties are better physical therapy than the interstates for you. More reason to stay off the slab.:D

My doctor also rides and when he invites me on a ride I tell my wife I'm under doctor's orders to ride. Works most of the time. :laugh

Sometimes this bike riding thing is more mental therapy for us rather than physical but if that is what your Dr says that is great. A few years ago when I had back surgery I couldn't go 200 miles in the car but could ride that bike for 500 with no problem Then just a couple years ago my right knee was telling me I would have to stop riding. Started hanging it out on the crashbar and the pain would go away for a while. Stayed that way for the one year and then went away so still plugging along on the two old bikes.

i was taken out of the saddle a few years back with guillain-barre -- once i was able to squeeze, I was on the road again and never looked back. congrats on the milestone. :drink

my chiropractic explained to me once that every living thing has a natural harmonic vibration. muscles work better when they vibrate correctly. the human body vibrates at the exact same resonance as a motorcycle. so his prescription to me for when my low back was acting up (2 desicated discs) was to take my bike out for a ride. woohoo!!
at the time i had a K11RS and a Ducati 900SS. one vibrated sweetly, one just buzzed at higher rpms. i liked the vibratory one for "therapy". it's since been upgraded to a R11S.

i don't really believe all he said about sympathetic vibrations (given the wide variance in motorcycle brand/model/specs vibrations), but i liked the way he thought about it!! however, he wouldn't write me a Rx for a new bike as a medical deduction (you know i asked about it!)

Think of all the stuff you can put off doing and go for a ride. And if anyone complains, just doing doing what the doctor ordered.

Have good safe rides, and may your hand feel better.
