Friends we have a new to us R 100 RT in 94 year and the emission garb is mostly taken off already as we did on our R 80 but the switch was done different and we need to know which or if both were ok.
The vac line on the carb on ours is taken off each carb and capped. No vac line left. The fuel line on ours go from each petcock or pet cock for people watching my spelling which ant very good. :blush to the carbs ; one line on each side and that is it. On the new bike they ran one line from the petcock to the carb but in the line they teed the lines together so they balance out with each other for some reason??? I suppose this would not be a p roblem but cant see where it is a plus or a minus??? any feedback on these problems would be appreciated ; and we dont mind people correcting our spelling were just grateful were close enough that some can understand what were intending to say.
Thanks for the help

The "T" situation is correct. A fuel line goes through the air filter area that connects to a "T" fitting in each fuel line coming down to each carb. The purpose would be so that you only have to turn on one petcock rather than both to get fuel.

The vac lines on the new R 100 RT are still in use too? This is confusing as We thought it all went away when you pulled the emiss. stuff off.?
Sorry get side tracked easy these days:doh

Take a look at the underside of your tank.
You'll notice the right half will contain significantly less fuel than the left half.
When that right half runs out, you'll appreciate having the crossover.

Thanks we got the fuel line set up figured out now How about the vac lines still being hooked up. ??? They both go to a hole under the starter cap and Im not sure where to from there have not taken it apart yet. But the R 80 has no vac line at all just cap s on the nipple one each carb.
Thanks

I had the same question when I took the emissions stuff off my '83 R100T. On my bike, in addition to the metal pipe from the air box to the cylinder head, there was a rubber tube from one vacuum line, through the starter cover (or a tiny gap between the engine top cover and the airbox, connected to the other carb's vacuum port.
I've been told this is called an 'equalizer', allegedly to try and balance the vacuum on both carbs. I was also told that I didn't need it and that it wasn't really ever effective. Besides, the EPA kit I bought from Bob's BMW came with a screw and o-ring to plug the vacuum port.
I think that may be the thing you are talking about. If it is, you can safely remove it and plug the vacuum ports with screw and o-ring (gotta have an o=ring). My bike can breathe!

Thanks will get er done. We were sure Molly our R 80 worked right just not sure what the reason was. Now we know we will get with the removing and replacing
Can someone tell me where to get nice gas line t's the ones we found so far are cheap plastic ones and we would like good quality ones even if there plastic the ones we found were like you would use on a windshield washer fluid system nothing to brag about.
Thanks

Complete BS. Only purpose was to maximize operation of the air injestion system. These hoses were never installed on Euro bikes that didn't have the air injestion system.
