Presently in Colorado as I post this (08/04/08) and I had the opportunity to drop in at Kisan Technologies this afternoon, in Colorado Springs.
I had sent them a defective headlight modulator and as long as I was in the area visiting my daughter, who lives about 35 minutes north of them, I thought a 'face-to-face' was in order.
VERY nice reception from the entire staff. Invited my family in and treated us all like expected guests. Handed me a replacement unit, no questions asked; explained why the original part had failed, and sent me out the door at zero cost!
These are nice people to do business with, an impressive facility, and overall, a pleasant experience.

Did you ask them why they have not been successful in making a headlight modulator that does not wreak havoc with the CANBUS system?

Is a headlight modulator one of those things that makes the headlight flash constantly from bright to dim?........I hate those things.:scratch :whistle

One accident avoided (they seem to do a wonderful job of keeping deer off the road) is worth all the hate you can beam at me.. :dance

You can hate me, too :nyah
Get yourself an RT-P with a headlight modulator and next thing you know you're pulling people over and writing tickets :)
I've seen several drivers begin to pull out into my path, only to jam on their brakes when they realize I'm coming towards them. Maybe it's the all-white RT-P. Maybe it's the white helmet. Maybe it's the headlight modulator.
Whatever, it all works together as a system to improve my visibility to other motorists, and that's all that matters to me.

I have my reservations with the modulators having the action of the light be mistaken for the "go ahead flash of the light" in other words "your turn" type action. I have heard some others have the same concern. I am not sure motorists understand what it means. If there are flashing red or blue lights along with it, there is no question. But without who knows. :scratch Plus it may not be legal in all states.
About Kisan I have a thread somewhere about the good service. They sent my reprogrammed part to the wrong address (my fault) received it back in colorado, called me for the correct address and the sent it to me. And it works like a charm. Good service.

Since I've used a modulator for about 15 years now - I don't have that concern. It just doesn't happen. NADA. Zilch. That's a rumor started by people who don't have a modulator.
And they are legal in all 50 states (and Canada) since they are specifically permitted by Federal law - which trumps state and local law. Kisan provides you with a copy of the federal law. I have been asked about the modulated headlight once by an LEO. He asked me "why?" - I said "You saw me right?" - it was like a bulb went off over his head. He then said "Have a nice day.." and took off.
I wasn't kidding about deer - there is some scientific data indicating deer back off from flashing lights (and loud SUDDEN noises..) I used to be jumped (deer crossing close enough in front of me that I had to lock the brakes, pre-ABS days..) every time I went out for a ride. It became a joke in our local club. I got my first headlight modulator and it simply stopped. The deer continue to multiply in NJ (I have them in my very urban backyard), but they don't jump me anymore during daylight when I can run the modulator. And I simply don't ride when I can't..

Kisan has always been good with me, and I've been dealing with them for a long time now. I recommend them. They spent a lot of time solving the CANBUS problem (I know - I was one of the beta testers).. but they did and it works fine.

And it's the 'Z' variant that they sent me out the factory door with, so I am anxious to get home and install it!
Visited the BMW-Ducati dealer in Colorado Springs yesterday - more DUCATI than BMW, I'm afraid.
Today, I'm in Estes Park (Again - been up this way before....and we don't have a Rally here, why?!).
Might stop in at Foothills BMW in Lakewood later this afternoon.
Home by Friday.

I have them on three bikes, have had them on bikes for over ten years......This simply has NEVER happened. Not once........!
A bunch of nonsense from folks that are self appointed experts on everything........

Was it a flashing bulb?:dance
All kidding aside, it is hard to argue against them making you more noticeable.
Aggravating, but noticeable!:nyah :stick :lurk
