I was at Bob's Thursday afternoon and was admiring your rig with congratulatory signage! Very sweet! The sidecar is wide enough for fitting my two girls! (Not that I tried fitting them in there! They were having fun spinning on the Pagusa seats mounted on the cement posts outside!) :thumb

Beautiful rig you have there! I sold my first sidecar rig (R75/2-Steib 200) to Bob's bout 20 years ago and I have ridden a R75/7-Watsonian since then. There are some special rules that you should know about sidecars:
You do not ride a sidecar, you "sail" a sidecar rig! It is all a combination of acceleration, braking and coasting:brad :bliss
Sidecars are NOT invisible--all the people in cars stare and point at you and we all know about driver fixation and the tendency to go towards whatever you are looking at!:uhoh
Everybody will always talk to you when you park or get gas or any other normal activities. Be ready to be an "expert" real quickly.:dunno
the rider in the sidecar is really LOW--remember that as the pilot.:stick
The police do not see you as a speeding threat in a sidecar.:thumb

Thanks everybody for the well wishes and good advice. I drove the rig to the store this evening just to pick up a couple of things. When I came outside there was a small gathering of people around it. One lady made a comment --you know the one "I didn't know that BMW made motorcycles" *sigh* It always makes me chuckle a little bit. I am having a great time! You certainly cannot be an introvert and a sidecarist at the same time. HA HA!!:brad

i stopped at Bob's last week and saw your rig sitting there. I couldn't help but take a closer peek. Congrats and have fun!
Someday, I hope to own one as well.

Spot on about not being an introvert and a sidecarist at the same time. I have an old Velorex attached to my '07 F650GS, and it is a people magnet . . . children excitedly waving as you pass them in their parent's cars, a group gathered around when you come out of the super market, people who didn't give you a second look before attaching the chair, and questions at every fuel stop. Endless questions from other motorcyclists about the difference in the riding.:blah
Put your dog in the sidecar, and you can add LEO's smiling and waving, including the pretty lady LEO pacing alongside for quite a while, then giving a big thumbs up before pulling away. It's all great fun.

Flgoff, can you post a picture? I'd like to see your rig with the 650GS.

Night Nurse, you make me very jealous. I keep looking for a sidecar to attach to my 81 R100RT, but can't seem to find one that will look "right" with the RT fairing, that I can afford.
Enjoy yours, it is a very good looking rig.

Bob's BMW is having a sidecar/trike day on Saturday Aug 16th. I plan on going and hope to see some cool sidecar rigs there. If you spot me--please come over and say hi.

I have a jack russell terrier named Zoe. I did buy doggie doggles (with cool red flames) for her. I plan on taking her for rides after I get a little more comfortable. The sidecar has a seat belt in it for her body harness. I may have to have someone in with her until she warms up to the idea.

If that R100RT in your avatar is the one in question--I would think that it would make any sidecar look good!

I hope you'll excused the dried up drool I left the day that stunning rig was placed on the floor for sale. I shook the dickens outta my piggy bank, but came up shy. Enjoy that rig! :lol
Gorgeous.

LOL!! Yeah, I kinda had to shake that piggy bank a bit, too.:laugh By the way, this is my first real airhead experience. I'm not sure but I think I may need to idle it up a bit. It's probably operator error but I have stalled it out several times at stop signs. Anybody have any wisdom they might like to share? Thanks in advance.

I have had my hack for 6 months and still find myself getting squirrely especially in righthand turns. Make sure you have ballast when noone is in the car. I also recommend "flying" the car. It will show you your limits.
I am verry happy for you !!!

Thanks! You look like you are having as much fun with yours as I am with mine.:) I am feeling more and more confident each day. I was out joy riding today and was spotted by a person in an ultralight aircraft. We exchanged big waves!:clap :clap :clap I wish I had my camera.

FLGOFF: you've got a good looking rig there.... I assume you know about, and haunt, the ADV Riders site?
This is the link to their "Hacks" section... I am addicted to the site, primarily to the Old Skool section which has a huge section of Airhead devotees....

I cannot recommend this book enough:
'Driving a Sidecar Outfit' (http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?products_id=6043) by David Houge.
There is a newer edition of it. When I find a link I'll post it.
