interesting that something aftermarket would ever be worth that much, i can understand the desirability of something like a Heinrich tank, but aren't the vintage guys only into factory correctness??

If I could get that headlight bucket and add it to Walter Zeller's one off factory presentatation roadster, then I could ........ :blah :blah :blah

Unique works of art command greater prices.

Yeah, but $10,000? Seems insane...

I keep hearing the saying that nice old BMW's are increasingly becoming mounting brackets for impossibly expensive accessories.

Sold for $10,680. WOW!
A friend of mine who shall remain nameless (Lee DeYoung, you may have seen his sidecar bike with the Richter Kabine (sp?) at the National) has fabricated a dual instrument mount for his bike and that was impressive.
This borders on the obscene!

It was probably purchased by one of the executives at Exxon. With the 11.4 Billion $ they reported in profits this last three months it would only be a drop in the bucket of their income. Meanwhile I am over whelmed that BMW Canada would charge $375 for the same coil that is priced at $102 on the US side of the boarder.
That headlight needs to be in a glass case on display for all to admire!

I think I could find something better to put $10000 into.
Looks freaking cool, though!

A $3800 investment turns into $10K+..........................I don't think there are too many investments out there with that type of return!
And based on the messages left on the auction site, it could sell for a bunch more if more folks knew about it.

To most 10000 is a lot of money but to a very limited few it's but a drop in the bucket.
I'm in the most category. Probably will never be able to afford something like that.

Interesting because I received a commission to build one a couple of months ago. The customer in Germany had found a bare shell offered at $2500 in Europe, but the seller then backed out. I have partial patterns for the project and will build it this coming winter. Cost - not cheap, its all hand work.
