At the rally in Gillette, there was an airhead that was raffled of that had been restored/modified. It had yellow spark plug wires on it. Can someone tell me where I can find these?
Thanks.

Check parts stores. Accel used to make yellow wire cored spark plug wire. I have some white wires on my Triumph TR6. Generally sold by the foot

NGK seems to be a popular plug wire, and they make several colors. I have seen red, blue, yellow....

A] I will be getting the RS on the road Saturday after being taken out of commision since Feb. All I need yet is new spark plug cables.
B] The raffle bike was built by Glen Bishop. Tomorrow is his birthday bash and when I am there I will ask him what he put on that bike. I'll let you know what he says. And what I buy.

check with motorrad elektric, I got yellows with the 5k ngk caps from them, I fairly sure they make up their wires.

Yes, Rick at Motorrad Elektrik has NGK spark plug wires in yellow (also red, blue, or black if you change your mind).

Kent, I respect your experience, which is obviously extensive, and opinions, which I've sought, received, and benefited from more than once, but Rick at Motorrad Elektrik is a class act. If I can possibly direct business his way, I do - for his sake, and the customer's.

Perhaps, though, you were merely commenting on color preferences - but that's strictly a matter of taste. Me, I have a pair of those very spark plug wires - in red - on my 84 R100RT "LE" and they look good to me.

Then again, no one has ever accused me of good taste... - B

I guess that I made a very rash offer to ask Glen anything today. I was able to get the R60 cylinder head that had been sent out for repair but after that ... it was Glen's birthday party. I will find out later what was on that raffle R75-R90/6.
I am running the RS with the bad cables that were on it when I bought it with the bad parts taped up. I most certainly will have the poor taste to put yellow spark plug cables on my smoke red RS as soon as I can.

Why not go the extra step to the ones that pulse/flash as the spark goes thru? The HD crowd really likes them. Do they come in colors?

yes, they do. I think I'm gonna have to git me a set. maybe put a blue one on one jug and a red one on the other.

I like those yellow wires.

Dave Anderson, our local BMW genius, built a gorgeous red and black airhead RS project bike. It's got red plug wires and they match up very nicely with the paint scheme.

I really enjoy the posts from folks trying to improve agrarian looks. Especially when it tweaks the nose of the "beemer wienies". Its still just a machine, not a religious icon. BTW, I used yellow accel wires, from a set I got in the 80's. Put the first set on a Harley, now my R100, and next week, on the Dyna coils on my CL450. If you really want to get read the riot act, try polishing something on your bike!

I'm with ya there man. Being a purist with a /6 or /7 is like being a purist with a mercedes w123 or any other run-of-the-mill mass-produced german vehicle. there were 10 jillion of these bikes made. they are not rare. they should not be coveted. they do not need to be 'as delivered'. who cares? it's my bike and I can do whatever I damn well please with it.

next time I grind off a bracket and spraypaint over the bare metal I'll be sure to record a video and post it up. :hug

LOL !

the bike in the background, is that a "downhill" racer, or does it come with pistons and heads?? :laugh

guess it probably uses very little oil in its current set up, which could be a bonus.

what about white walls?

any oil it uses will be synthetic

... and the walls ARE white, that's just the camera flash.

Dang, I forgot the best part; blue urethane gas lines, lawnmower gas filters, and heaven forbid, stainless wire hose clamps. Must be habits from my hare scramble days!
