The rear Metzler ME88 Marathon on my '87 K100RS is due for replacement. I can't find the size anywhere (130/90 17). All I can find is the Lazertech. Anyone have a source, or should I just go with the Lazertech? I just put a new 880 Marathon, on the front H rated.
Also, is there a problem mixing an H speed rated tire (front) with a V (rear)?
Thanks

Still in their online catalog:
http://www.us.metzelermoto.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/custom/none&vehicleType=MOTO&product_id=229769&uri=/metzeler/en_US/browser/xml/catalog/moto/Custom_ME_88_Marathon.xml&menu_item=/products/catalog/custom
The V rear will wear out much faster, I'd stick with an H rated.
Where have you tried finding the ME88????
Where are you located?

All Metzlers imported by Parts Unlimited. They are the sole distributor. The tire companies do this to stabilize prices.
When PU drops the ball and is out of them you are out of luck.

SWmoto...they have the freshest stock...and ship within 24hrs, if they have it in stock which they usually do.

Thanks for the help guys! I like to order from the local shop, but they quoted me $179 + m&b. It's on the way for $131. Just need to search harder, as I'd been to a couple of those sites. Right size and rating.
BTW, I'm not sure how many miles were on the old tire. It looked virtually new when I bought the bike, but 4000 miles later, it's on the wear bars. I'm a "conservative aggressive" rider, ie. not hard on the throttle, but corner pretty hard. I'm amazed at the stick of such a "mileage" tire. 1 up, lightly loaded.

I had a similar prob with my FRONT Lasertech, it only lasted about 3 years of mostly just commuting miles. I just brought the wheel in so I don't have the miles on the repair order of when it was done, so I can only guess it was about 4000 miles?? Usually the front outlasts the rear 2:1. The rear Marathon is still in good shape, and was done within a month of the front, plus or minus I don't remember.
I never did check the "born on" date on the old one. I have heard a guess that I may have gotten an older stock tire. FIRST someone thought it was a V rated tire, but no it was an H.
